We are building a noisemaker that plugs into the DK jack of the Epson TM-T88 III, and my tests show different pin assignments than the info above. Here's what I found:
Epson TM-T88 III DK jack pinout
1 ground 2 unknown 3 +24v 4 +5v, but very little current (1.3 ma)... I suspect this is an input, or available as pullup for drawer kick). 5 drawer kick signal (sinks to ground, use a pullup.) 6 unknown

Printer tests
For all tests, first turn printer off (or unplug), then on (or plug in), to ensure that they are in a known state. If printer has a soft-off button, then printer should be unplugged to ensure that it really is off.

Encoder-Error (Codierer-Fehler) nur BJC600-Serie: hinter dem Druckkopf zieht von links nach rechts eine Dünne Metallstange durch den Drucker. Diese hat magnetische Markierungen durch die die exakte Position des Kopfes festgestellt wird. Diese Markierungen sind nicht mehr erkennbar für die Elektronik (meistens durch starkes Magnetfeld in der Nähe - Schraubenzieher, Monitor, Lautsprecher etc.) - manchmal hilft es noch das Magnetfeld zu entfernen, sonst bleibt nur der Austausch dieses Encoders.
Paper Feed error, Carriage Error Papier-Transport-Problem Einzugrollen prüfen: drehen sich Rollen? nein? Motor defekt? Zahnrad im Antrieb defekt oder blockiert Einzugrollen überprüfen: wird Papier überhaupt gegriffen? nein? Neue Einzugrollen einbauen <e-teile.htm>. Wie weit wird Papier eingezogen? Diese Stelle ansehen - blockiert? Büroklammer oder ähnliches reingefallen? Wird ununterbrochen Papier eingezogen und ausgeworfen? Purge Unit (Reinigungseinheit für Druckkopf) defekt. - Diese steuert über einen kleinen Hebel bei den meisten Druckern auch den Start des Papiereinzugs. sonst möglicherweise Elektronik defekt
